PESHAWAR: Students at the University of Peshawar (UoP) have been urged to remain vigilant against the use of drugs and the adverse impact it can have on health.

This was stated during the first-ever seminar and sensitisation walk held in UoP — part of a series of events planned —on Monday by the CCPO office and the varsity.

Peshawar CCPO Qazi Jamilur Rehman urged students to focus on their studies and indulge in healthy co-curricular activities and to refrain from harmful activities.

He cautioned the students to keep a check on their colleagues regarding the use of the drug ice — crystal methamphetamine — since the network selling the drugs operates in close vicinity to the varsity’s campus.

UoP Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Asif Khan appreciated the CCPO for initiating the anti-ice campaign. He offered the varsity’s complete support in this regard.

Earlier, SSP Cantonment Waseem Riaz disclosed that a major drug gang, which operates from Jamrud outside the varsity campus had been nabbed.
