“Parveen Bibi had an argument with her husband over family matters. However, after a heated debate, the woman went to her parent’s house along with her children,” he said.
The official maintained that after a few days, Parveen Bibi went to her husband’s house without informing his brother and parents. “This enraged woman’s brother Rafique Ahmed who went to his sister’s house along with his cousin Shehzad Ahmed and two unidentified suspects and opened fire on her,” he pointed out.
As a result, Parveen Bibi was killed on the spot while the accused managed to escape from the scene.
After the incident, victim’s father-in-law Muhammad Iqbal and area people blocked National Highway in protest against the killing. They demanded the police to arrest the culprits. They said the authorities should provide them justice and award strict punishment to the accused.
As a result of the demonstration, a large number of commuters were seen stranded in traffic jam. Later, Liaquatpur DSP Ghulam Dastagir Langah reached the spot and held negotiations with the protesters. He assured them that the murderers will be arrested soon and they will be provided justice.
