Jhalawan Medical College students protest over lack of facilities

Institution has no functional lab

QUETTA: Dozens of students of Jhalawan Medical College Khuzdar took to the streets, demanding provision of basic facilities at the institution.
They took out a protest rally from the college carrying placards inscribed with their demands and reached the Khuzdar Press Club where they held a protest demonstration.

“There are lack of basic facilities, including a lab. Despite lodging various complaints, no one is willing to address our woes,” said the protesting students, alleging that the medical college principal was running his private clinic in Quetta instead of performing his duty at the college.



Addressing the protesters, Dr Amjad, Dr Mohsin, Dr Abdul Qyoum and Dr Muhammad Ashraf said, “A medical college must contain all facilities but we are the only unfortunate medical students in the world who don’t even have a functional lab.

“Ministers, secretaries and government officials visited our college but still we are facing improper educational activities mainly due to lack of interest by the provincial government.”

They feared that the seats they had secured through their hard work might go to waste due to lack of facilities.

The protesters demanded provision of all mandatory facilities for their institution. “We will continue protesting against the provincial government and the college administration until our demands are met.”
