PHC to launch anti-quackery drive
Directs the PHC COO to recover the amount without further delay
Minister for Health Punjab Dr Yasmin Rashid has said Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) should work as the engine of anti-quackery drive and maximum compensation of complaints lodged by general masses should be ensured. She expressed these views while chairing her first meeting on healthcare watchdog Punjab Healthcare Commission. PHC Chief Operating Officer (COO) Dr Ajmal Khan briefed the minister about achievements of his department. Taking notice of the lapse in recoveries on account of fines, she directed the COO to recover the amount without further delay.
“Real hurdle was the stay orders by lower judiciary, however honourable Supreme Court had recently passed on its directions to district and session courts to avoid unnecessary stay orders,” Dr Ajmal told the health minister. Dr Yasmin Rashid while seeking a report on quality assurance, also directed PHC to submit details of actions taken to date.
