QUETTA: Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) President Mohammad Akhtar Mengal has said his party is paying more attention towards the collective interest of the people of the province rather than its own because the people were vulnerable to human rights violation during the tenure of the previous government.

“History will remember those leaders, who defended their soil and compromised their own interest for the development and prosperity of the Baloch nation,” said the BNP-M chief while talking to the Baloch community in Khuzdar the other day.

Balochistan can get rights through unity: Mengal

On the BNP-M’s six-point deal with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Mengal said, “Following bitter experience with all mainstream political parties, the BNP-M supported the PTI, demanding provincial autonomy instead of ministries.

“Despite having natural resources the people of Balochistan were deliberately deprived of their right by the Centre, but BNP-M decided to move forward with a new vision, which is in the interest of the province.”
Mengal hoped that the new government would deliver on its promises.

On the missing persons’ issue, the BNP-M chief said, “We seek safe return of our missing persons, who have been kept in prisons for years as we have promised our people their loved ones would be recovered safely.

“The people of Balochistan have already shown in the general elections that they trust BNP-M. We have to fulfil their hopes.”
