Imran orders Punjab CM to revamp LG system
Directs authorities to initiate audit of Orange Line project; Orders stern action against all encroachment mafias
ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered revamping of the prevailing local government system in Punjab, besides directing authorities concerned to initiate an audit of the Orange Line project.
The prime minister also stressed the need to free the police from political influence, ordering the chief minister of Punjab to take stern action against all encroachment mafias.
He ordered the CM to submit a fortnightly performance review in this regard.
Imran, who visited Lahore on Saturday for the first time after assuming the post of prime minister, was welcomed by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and members of his provincial cabinet.

During a one-on-one meeting with the chief minister, the prime minister advised Buzdar on key provincial issues.
Imran highlighted the need for implementing austerity measures, urging the Punjab cabinet to make all-out efforts to root out corruption.
Discussing various reforms, the PM also urged the Punjab government to improve its performance.
Imran told members of the Punjab cabinet that the nation expected a lot from them and they shouldered a tough responsibility, urging them not to disappoint the people at any cost.
Focusing on the phenomenon of land grabbing, he said that encroachments should be removed from all over the province and elements indulging in this illegal action should be punished in accordance with the law.

Stressing the need for leading a simpler life, the prime minister urged members of the Punjab cabinet to avoid extravagance at the expense of taxpayers.
He said that bureaucracy had an extremely important role to play in implementing the government’s agenda.
Merit and transparency, he said, should be ensured at all levels in the larger national interest.
Later, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar vowed to implement the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s reforms and development agenda for a Naya Pakistan.
Imran urged members of the provincial cabinet to diligently work to implement the party’s 100-day plan, bringing about visible change in people’s socio-economic conditions.
Members of the Punjab government also shared their ideas and proposals regarding their departments with PM Imran.
Imran also took notice of the protest being staged by people at the Zaman Park in Lahore against NADRA policies.
The prime minister directed the NADRA chairman to immediately address people’s grievances.
Meanwhile, First Lady Bushra Imran, who was accompanied by her close friends, visited the Data Darbar and offered Fateha at the shrine.
She also visited Darul Shafqat (an orphanage) in the provincial capital, where she distributed food and gifts among the orphans.
