Geek huddle: Moot urges students to do research work

ISLAMABAD:
University of Wah on Thursday organised a two-day international conference to encourage research activities among the students.

According to the university, the conference is titled ‘Fourth Multi-Disciplinary Student Research International Conference (MDSRIC).

General (retd) Sadiq Ali said: “The conference provides a platform for young researchers to share their findings with the academic community.”

To create a harmonious and affluent society, universities play a key role in creating a knowledge based economy, principally driven by advancements in the fields of science and technology. Abundant natural resources available in Pakistan can be harnessed only through scientific and technological advances, indigenously.

The participation in the conference is open for all the students across the country.


The convener welcomed University of Kentucky’s Prof Dr Alan Fryar who travelled from USA to Pakistan only to participate in the event and to impart detailed knowledge on the impact of global warming on water resources on the Indus Basin.

International Islamic University Rector Prof Dr Masoom Yasinzai, spoke on higher education in Pakistan, opportunities and challenges which can lead to a healthy environment for our young students.

Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Peshawar, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Razia Sultana spoke further on the development of universities across Pakistan.

The conference is being organised by the university’s Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC).
