Steps on a war footing are required to improve education in the province.
The newly-appointed education minister, Syed Sardar Ali Shah, said this on Monday while speaking to media personnel. He added that prompt decisions and their ruthless execution were the need of the hour to improve the education sector.
Sardar, who also holds the portfolio of culture department, vowed that the Pakistan Peoples Party government in its current tenure would bring drastic reforms in the education system, implementing the true sense of 'education emergency' that was declared by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah during his last tenure.

The education minister announced that he would devise the education policy for the province in a few days. "We will set up complaint centres in the province and strict action would be taken against corrupt officers in the education department," he said.
Sardar also asserted that he would depoliticise the education department and all teaching and non-teaching cadre employees would be appointed purely on merit. "The reopening of ghost schools and capacity building of teachers would be my first priority," he said, adding that he was passionate to work for education in Sindh and was looking to it as a challenge to bring drastic reforms in the sector.
"I know that it is a great challenge, but I will present myself for accountability after five years tenure," he remarked.
