Two suffer burns in acid attack

Victims were intercepted by the accused when they were on their way home

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Two men suffered burn injuries in an acid attack incident in Rahim Yar Khan on Sunday.

An official from Ahmedpur Lamah police station told Express News that victim Khalil Ahmed, a resident of Basti Iqbal Dhandoo, Chowk Shehbazpur, lodged a complaint at the police station in which he stated that he was on his way home on a motorcycle with Waseem after meeting his relatives when accused Faheem, Naveed, Mansoor and Ajmal intercepted them.

He added, “One of the accused took out a bottle filled with acid and flung it on us to take revenge over a prior dispute.” He maintained that as a result, the men suffered burns on different parts of the body. He pointed out the culprits also hurled threats at them.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case against the accused under section 336-B and have started an investigation.

Earlier, a man threw acid on his wife for meeting her sister in Faisalabad’s Sabir Colony.

Police said that victim Nusrat Bibi lodged a complaint at the police station in which she stated that her husband Iftikhar used to quarrel with her over domestic issues and beat her. She stated that the accused would not allow her to meet her brothers, sisters and other relatives.

She added her husband threatened her with dire consequences if she did not follow his instructions.

Anti-acid attack bill gathers dust

The victim said that on the day of the incident, one of her sisters came to meet her while her husband was not present in the house. She said that in the meantime, Iftikhar entered the house along with his friend and was enraged when he saw his wife’s sister.

The accused took out a bottle of acid and threw it on her. As a result, she suffered burns on her face and head.
