PESHAWAR:

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior parliamentarian Syed Khursheed Shah on Sunday said the tall claims made by the ruling government before general elections will besiege the government.

Shah was talking to media at Bilour House where he offered condolences for the departed soul of Awami National Party leader Haroon Bilour in the provincial capital.

Former opposition leader in the National Assembly was of the view that the country is confronted with several challenges and the most important one is overcoming the looming financial crisis.

Shah termed the country’s financial crisis, one of the major challenges for the newly-elected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government adding that the federal government would not be able to execute the promises it made during election campaigns, he added.

Although the federal government made tall claims, accomplishing the tasks would be a challenge, adding that on its first call, the foreign policy dangled.

He said that helicopter was being used for travelling between Bani Gala and the prime minister house.

“The foreign policy dangled on the first call,” Shah said. The tall claims would besiege PTI government as it is a tough task to meet the challenges and fulfill the promises made while electioneering, he added.

On presidential elections, Shah said Aitzaz Ahsan’s name was tipped for the slot and no one objected
adding that it was only discussed on party level but media made it public.

He said the opposition parties including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have no reservations over his name.
“Aitzaz is an asset and PTI should also support him,” he said.

Moreover, he hoped that the country develops. “There might be attempts on dismantling the opposition,” Shah added.

Earlier Shah paid tribute to the sacrifices paid by Bilour family calling it a family of the martyrs. Shah was accompanied by Aitzaz Ahsan, Naveed Qamar and Qamar Zaman Kaira.
