Separate incidents: 12-year-old girl, woman raped in RY Khan

Police claim to have arrested one of the suspects while hunt for others is under way

RAHIM YAR KHAN: A 12-year-old girl and a woman were allegedly subjected to sexual assault in Khanpur on Tuesday, Express News reported.

A police official said that A* lodged a complaint at the police station in which he stated that his 12-year-old daughter, a resident of Basto Gilani Moza, did not return home after leaving the house to do the laundry.

Concerned for her safety, the father and the victim’s relatives went to search for the girl. He said that they heard screams coming from the fields and saw accused Shakir and his friend sexually assaulting his daughter. When they discovered they had been spotted, the accused fled the scene, he added.

The victim’s father alleged that the suspects abducted his daughter and then raped her. He demanded police officials arrest the culprits and punish them.

Police have registered a case and have arrested the suspect. Further investigations are underway.

In a separate incident, a woman was allegedly raped in Rahim Yar Khan’s Haq Town.

Police said that victim S* lodged a complaint at the police station in which she stated that her husband’s friend Rashid and others allegedly sexually assaulted her while she was alone in the house. She added the culprits also recorded the act and were subsequently using it to blackmail her. The victim stated that the accused also threatened to upload the footage on social media if she did not pay them money.

She requested that police take action against the criminals and provide her with justice. She also demanded the accused be punished.

In recent months, cases of sexual abuse have been on the rise across Punjab.
