Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired first meeting of the federal cabinet at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in Islamabad on Monday.
According to Radio Pakistan, the premier discussed strategies to shape the government's policies.
Following the cabinet meeting, the premier met with Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Mahmood Hayat at PMO.
Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan also called the premier at PMO.
Earlier today, President Mamnoon Hussain administered oath to a 21-member federal cabinet comprising 16 ministers and five advisers.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) Asad Umar, Shireen Mazari, Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Fawad Chaudhry, Aamir Mehmood Kiyani, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Pervez Khattak, Shafqat Mehmood, Khusro Bakhtiar are among those handed portfolios.
PM unveils 21-strong cabinet
PTI allies were handed over six of 16 ministries: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) was given two ministries and one each to Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), Awami Muslim League (AML), Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) and Balochistan Awami Party (BAP). Two other allies, Akhtar Mengal’s Balochistan National Party (BNP) and Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP), remain unrepresented.
Nearly one-third of those part of the cabinet previously served as ministers in the Musharraf regime. Two others served as cabinet ministers during the succeeding PPP-led government.
