MNSUA, UAF to work with Chinese experts
To research on cotton leaf curl virus (CLCV) and whitefly

In a bid to counter pest attacks, the Plant Protection and Research Institute, the Guangdong Academy of Agriculture Sciences China, the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) and Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture Multan (MNSUA) will carry out joint research, especially on cotton leaf curl virus (CLCV) and whitefly.
Pests attack cotton crop in Multan
The decision was taken during a meeting held between the Chinese delegation and UAF entomologists in Faisalabad. The meeting was chaired by UAF Entomology Chairperson Dr Muhammad Jalal Arif. MNSUA Dean Dr Shafqat Saeed and Chinese experts, including Prof He, Prof Lihua, Chen and others also attended the meeting.
On the occasion, Dr Jalal Arif said Pakistan and China have enjoyed good relations on the basis of brotherhood. He said that the department was the best one, with trained and qualified staff working day and night on pests, plant diseases and dengue. “The move will bring tangible results in the agriculture sector,” he said.

Dr Shafqat Saeed called for benefiting from each other’s experiences. He said that with China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the relations between the two countries will only strengthen.
