IGP for renaming several police stations in Punjab

Punjab IG Police suggests while naming the police stations an area’s history and culture should be kept in mind

Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr Syed Kaleem Imam has sent a notification to all the regional police officers (RPOs), district police officers (DPOs) and city police offers (CPOs) pertaining to renaming of unnoticeable or little known police stations in the province.

He said while suggesting the new names for police stations, area’s history and culture should be kept in mind and given priority. The IGP said names relating to famous historical monuments and celebrities would be suggested. He said renaming of the unknown police stations with area’s identity was important.


The IG said all the regions and districts should on immediate basis send their suggestions to Central Police Station.

IG announces to provide 350 motorcycles for patrolling

After examination of names sent, the authority concerned would make the decision regarding final list of the names.
