Rains disrupt power supply in many areas
GUJRANWALA:
The mercury level dropped after heavy rain hit Gujranwala and its adjoining areas late on Tuesday. The downpour fell over various localities, including Ghaggar Mandi and others.
A large number of people came out of their homes as soon as the rain started to enjoy the weather.

However, rainwater accumulated on the streets and roads, disrupting the flow of traffic.
Several cars were stuck while workers from the district government were not present to carry out the drainage procedure at major thoroughfares.
Many feeders also tripped, resulting in power outages across several areas.
Meanwhile, the local meteorological office has predicted cloudy weather with heavy rains over the next couple of days for Gujranwala, Dera Ghazi Khan, Lahore, Sargodha and Faisalabad.
Earlier, four members of a family were killed and eight others were injured when a two-storey house collapsed due to heavy rainfall in Gujranwala’s Ferozewala area.
Rescue 1122 officials said the roof of Abdul Majeed’s house in Zafar Colony collapsed due to the heavy rain. They said some guests were visiting him when the accident occurred.
Weatherman forecasts rains before election day
They said 12 people were trapped underneath the rubble. Before professional help arrived, some neighbours tried to get the family out.
It took rescuers three hours to pull them all out. Four of them, including Majeed, were dead. The deceased children were identified as Zain, 10, Haider, 9, and Eesha, 4.
