Pakistan’s IT sector moving on swift pace
Pakistan, with more than 58 million fixed and mobile broadband users, is providing affordable internet services
ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan, with more than 58 million fixed and mobile broadband users, is providing affordable and quality internet services compared to other regional countries, according to the ministry of information technology. “It is competition due to which broadband rate in Pakistan is far more affordable than in other countries,” added Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication Member Information Technology Mudassir Hussain. He told APP that Pakistan has recently recognised ICT as an industry but still IT and telecom sectors are moving on a swift pace. “All these things really matter for global players in taking decision to set up their presence here,” he said. Pakistan has been ranked at 96th place for mobile internet, ahead of India which grabbed 109th spot in June’s edition of global Internet speed test.
