South Punjab’s biggest cattle market sealed

District admin issues orders after two men were killed late Saturday night

The district administration sealed one of the biggest cattle markets in South Punjab, located in Mauza Samorana, after a fight claimed the lives of two people and injured six late Saturday night.

Multan Division Commissioner Nadeem Irshad Kayani took notice of the incident and directed officials to seal the cattle market immediately.

Multan Deputy Commissioner Mudassir Riaz said that the two groups had each staked their claim on a 12 marla piece of land. On Saturday night, an altercation between the two parties occurred in which two people were killed while six others were injured, he added.



However, after the injured were shifted to Nishtar Hospital, several individuals from both groups reached the emergency ward and started smashing windows and furniture at the facility.  They also pushed injured men from their rival groups on hospital beds to the ground, he said.

He added that three culprits, belonging to both groups, had been arrested. Police teams are currently conducting raids to arrest the others, he maintained.

Security has been put on high alert to control any situation at the hospital. Officials have been directed to take indiscriminate action against those responsible, he stressed.



The Multan commissioner also ordered that the CCTV security cameras in all the cattle markets be fixed immediately. He directed the official concerned to submit a detailed inquiry report on the matter immediately. Strict legal action will be taken against the culprits, he said.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Jabbar Dogar, 30, and Azhar, 35. Dogar was a relative of the newly elected MNA Malik Amir Dogar from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf. The injured included 46-year-old Muhammad Arshad, 28-year-old Anwarul Haq, 30-year-old Ahtasham, 28-year-old Asif, 25-year-old Asad Umar and 17-year-old Naveed.

On the other hand, Union Council Chairman Adnan Dogar demanded that strict action be taken against those responsible for the incident.
