The inaugural session of the new Punjab Assembly was called on August 15 after the provincial governor approved a summary sent earlier by the law ministry.

The newly-elected members of the assembly will take their oaths in the session after which the process of electing the speaker, deputy speaker and chief minister will commence.

On Friday, Sindh’s interim chief minister also approved a summary and sent it to the caretaker Governor of Sindh, Agha Siraj Durrani, summoning the Sindh Assembly session on August 13.

Governor Balochistan Mohammad Khan Achakzai summoned the new Balochistan Assembly’s session on August 13 according to a statement released by the Balochistan Secretariat on Saturday.

Interim Chief Minister Alauddin Marri forwarded a summary after the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) requested he calls a provincial assembly session so the processes for the formation of the new provincial government could begin.

The president of BAP and the chief minister-in-waiting of the province, Jam Kamal Khan, on Thursday claimed he enjoyed the support of 49 elected members and requested the governor to call the assembly session.

The newly elected members will take the oath at 11am and voting for the speaker and deputy speaker will take place in the evening.
