'Aaya Lariye' from 'JPNA 2' lacks Meesha Shafi's fierceness

Is it wrong that we feel that Coke Studio's version of the song would have been a better fit?

Looks like all the Pakistani films releasing this Eidul Azha have one thing in common: they all claim to have the it wedding song of the season.

The latest to come out is Aaya Lariye from Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2, featuring Fahad Mustafa and Mawra Hocane. The song is composed by music maestro Shuja Haider and sung by Aima Baig and Naeem Abbas Rufi.

While it's quite upbeat, the video shows Fahad and Mawra dancing on some poor choreography and overall, Aya Lariye lacks the fierceness Meesha Shafi brought to the Coke Studio original. You might remember it from season 9, which was also composed by Haider and sung by Rufi and Shafi. Baig, unfortunately, fails to do justice to the song.

We strongly feel that if Haider had kept his Coke Studio lineup in the new version, it would have been much more powerful.

Now coming back to  the choreography. Remember Nicole Kidman's creepy clap from the Oscars last year? No? Well, let us remind you:

One of Mawra's dance steps is eerily similar and we can't handle it! See for yourself!

Anyway, there isn't much going on in the video - apart from Mawra literally hopping all over the place and Fahad trying to make up for her questionable dance moves. We certainly hope there are some more good songs from the film.
