Teaching hospitals told to form boards

The principals and chief executives of autonomous institutions should submit performance reports of their institutions

Health Secretary Jehanzeb Khan on Sunday directed officials to take immediate steps to form boards of management at autonomous institutions and teaching hospitals. He said this at a departmental meeting called to review pending inquires against department officials, transfers and postings of doctors, medical student exchange with foreign universities and long leaves of doctors.


He directed the officials concerned to propose names for the BoMs for approval by the chief minister.


Jehanzeb Khan said that in future all postings on medical superintendent and executive district officer (Health) slots would be done after the signing of a performance agreement.

He said the principals and chief executives of autonomous institutions should submit performance reports of their institutions to the department every year. He set a June 30 deadline for postings at all vacant slots. Khan also sought a list of doctors who had yet not joined their duties despite the expiry of their leaves.

Additional secretary (establishment) Dawood Muhammad Khan, additional secretary (technical) Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Sulehria and additional secretary (administration) Khursheed Ali Zaidi were also present on the occasion.
