Girl allegedly extorted, ‘raped’ by CDA officials in F-9 Park
Police have registered an FIR but no culprit has been arrested yet; woman slits husbands throat
ISLAMABAD:
In a shocking incident, a young woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by officials of the civic authority in a major park in the heart of the capital last week.
According to the victim*, she was visiting the Fatima Jinnah Pak (also known as F-9 Park), on the afternoon of August 2 along with a male companion.
Soon after the two entered the park, from its Gate number 2, the victim said that a man approached them. The man, who introduced himself as a Capital Development Authority (CDA) official, asked her what she was doing in the park with a boy.

The official, to allegedly pressure the couple, said that he would report them to the police.
The girl said that she told the alleged official she had done nothing wrong and that he can call the police if he wishes to.
The official then also threatened to summon the girl’s parents to the police station.
Thinking that the CDA official may be extorting them, the man accompanying the girl paid the CDA official Rs2,000. The alleged officials, though, asked the two to leave the park.
They separated the two, telling the guy to leave from gate one and that they would escort the girl out from the other gate.
The girl said after she was separated from her male companion, three CDA officials — including one who was a guard — took her to a side where one of them allegedly sexually assaulted her.
When she cried for help, the other two officials remained unmoved.
Afterwards, the official left the girl at a nearby metro station and threatened to have her killed if she told anyone about the incident.
The victim says she was left traumatised by the incident for a few days but on Monday evening, she gathered the courage to approach the Margalla police and submitted an application against the culprits.
In her application, the victim stated she was bringing the matter on record so that no other woman falls prey to these criminals and that they are taken to task.
A Margalla police officer told The Express Tribune they have arrested the prime suspect. Reportedly he is a gardener (maali) in CDA. Police said that raids were under way to arrest the other two who facilitated the assault.
Woman kills husband
In a separate spine-chilling incident in the capital, a woman murdered her husband by slitting his throat as he slept by her side.
She was later arrested by the police.
Man tries to rape 12-year-old girl
The woman, identified as Noor Asia, said that she had married 52-year-old Muhammad Ashraf some seven years ago. They lived in the capital’s Sector G-12. Ashraf was a daily wage labourer while Asia worked as a domestic worker in the homes of people to make ends meet. The two have six children.
On Sunday night, Asia said that she had given Ashraf sleeping pills. While the man slept, she said that she slit his throat and stabbed him in the chest.
After committing the deed, the woman surrendered to the police.
“The two had some kind of dispute. It is a poor family and both worked to make their ends meet,” Ramna SHO inspector Asjad Mehmood said.
