A four-member Pakistani team, led by Dr Khalid Mohammed Khan and Dr Muhammad Raza Shah of HEJ, participated in the international contest which was held from July 19 to 29.
A total of 304 students representing 76 countries participated in the event.
The team of students was selected by the STEM Careers Programme (SCP) and HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry.
The process of selection began last year by a screening test held in eight major cities all over the country for more than 5,000 applicants. Fifty of the top scorers were selected on the basis of their performance in the screening test.

Further grooming and screening through a series of training camps and tests at the HEJ Chemistry Institute led to the selection of the four-member team for the Olympiad.
This annual Olympiad provides pre-university science students from around the world an opportunity to compete in solving challenging theoretical and experimental science problems that only the most talented youth of their age can answer.
