Kapil Dev willing to attend Imran Khan's oath-taking ceremony 'if invited'

Former India captain hopes that PTI chairman will continue to work selflessly for the country

Former India captain Kapil Dev has said that he will attend Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s swearing-in ceremony if he gets a formal invitation.

Speaking on the sidelines of Lousi Phillepe Celebrity Pro Am — an international Professional Golf tournament in Bengaluru — Kapil stated that, although, he received a call from Khan’s team but he is still awaiting official mail regarding the invitation.

“I have been invited, but not in writing. I got a call from his team, but I haven’t received any mail yet. I am waiting for a formal invite,” said Kapil according to The Indian Express. “If I get a formal invite, I will go and attend the ceremony,” he added.

Kapil has already congratulated Khan over phone on his victory in the 2018 General Elections and hoped that the former Pakistan captain will continue to work selflessly for the country.

“I said well-done young man,” he said. “Imran has worked very hard for 20-odd years and he selflessly worked for his country and today he got reward for that. I hope he can keep working in the same manner.”

He added: “Imran was a very good captain, for it was not easy to lead a team like Pakistan. Because of his brilliant captaincy, Pakistan did well. I hope he does the same for his country as Prime Minister.”
