'Data gathering must be promoted in Pakistan'
PRI founder Dr Nauman Hashmani delivered a lecture, 'Learn how to write a research manuscript'
Pakistan Research Initiative (PRI) founder Dr Nauman Hashmani delivered a lecture, 'Learn how to write a research manuscript', at the 39th Karophth and First Pak Cornea Conference organised by the Ophthalmology Society of Pakistan (OSP) at a local hotel.
Dr Hasmani said, "Research and development funds should be increased and local data gathering must be promoted in Pakistan as research is extremely valuable in the medical profession."
Hashmani said that PRI was formed to promote academics and research within the Pakistani community. He added, "We not only want to promote the idea of publishing, but the idea that data gathering is more than simple publications; it helps you change communities and the medical world at large."
Tech lab, research unit to be established at ITU
The myth that only top level professors have the privilege of having their opinions heard is against the very ethos of the research world, he lamented.
PRI hopes to bring basic research, manuscript writing, and statistical analysis workshops to students across Pakistan. It aims to show people how to take the step from creating a simple research question, to executing that research and how to publish and share the results.
Later, senior ophthalmologist Prof Daud, OSP Centre President Prof Nadeem Hafeez, General Secretary Prof Mazharul Hasan and Scientific Committee Chairperson Prof Fawad Rizvi inaugurated a scientific exhibition organised as part of the conference. PPI
