Additional Assistant Commissioner Tank Karamatullah Kundi was martyred on Tuesday when unidentified men opened fire on his vehicle near Kashmir Point.
Kundi was on his way to work from Dera Ismail Khan when two motorcyclists intercepted his car and opened fire at him.
Six killed in different incidents
According to police sources, the AAC passed away on his way to the hospital while another passerby was injured in the shooting.
Kundi's security guard responded to the firing but the assailants were able to flee.
A cordon has been thrown around the area and a search operation has begun in the locality.
