Inoculation: Anti-polio drive starts next week

2,787 polio vaccinators’ teams include 2,333 mobile teams, 287 fixed points

RAWALPINDI: A five-day inoculation drive to administer oral polio vaccine drops to nearly 840,000 children will commence in the district from August 6, said in-charge of the anti-polio drive Muhammad Hussain.

He said that 2,787 polio vaccinators’ teams including 2,333 mobile teams, 287 fixed points, 119 transit points, 221 union council medical officers and 496 area in-charges would administer oral polio vaccine drops to nearly 840,000 children of less than five-year of age in all tehsils and union councils of the district, Hussain said.

Polio workers have been trained to accomplish the target set of vaccinating children below five years of age. He said that special attention is being given to those union councils which are declared high risk areas for polio virus.

Hussain said it is responsibility of all to play an effective role in making the country polio free.
