'Bharat' producer upset with Priyanka Chopra for ditching film due to rumoured engagement
While some of their friends, family and colleagues are over the moon for the happy couple, others aren't too chuffed
The news of Priyanka Chopra's engagement to American singer Nick Jonas has taken showbiz by storm. While some of their friends, family and colleagues are over the moon for the happy couple, others aren't too chuffed.
Priyanka was actually supposed to feature in director Ali Abbas Zafar next offering Bharat, the starlet informed the producers of the film just "in the Nick of time" about her decision. Zafar subsequently offered his best to the happy couple.
According to Hindustan Times, not everyone on team Bharat wants to celebrate Priyanka and Jonas though. Displeased by her decision, one of the producers has labelled her as "unprofessional" for leaving the film so suddenly.
Joe Jonas to Justin Bieber: Why is young Hollywood so eager to get married already?
Nikhil Namit, CEO of Reel Life Productions, stated that he was not at all happy. “Priyanka told us she had to exit due to her engagement, a few days ago. It was a little unprofessional of her to do it so suddenly,” he told Mid-Day.
Meanwhile, Priyanka has started work on Shonali Bose’s The Sky Is Pink. The Baywatch star plays the role of a mother in the film that also stars Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim.
Priyanka and Nick met at the 2017 Met Gala where they represented Ralph Lauren together. Rumours of their relationship began in late May, as they were spotted together on several occasions. The two flew to India in June for a short holiday and were spotted together on her birthday, when Nick supposedly proposed.
Chopra's old-time friend Duchess of Sussex Meghan, on the other hand, is completely supportive of the Quantico actor's engagement. A source told E! News that Meghan is "very excited" for Chopra. "Everyone is very happy and they are definitely a great match," an insider further shared.
Chopra previously went on record to praise her royal BFF for handling the pressures of the limelight after her marriage to Prince Harry, and stepping into the role of a Duchess. "She's always been someone who's so just aware and interested in the world," the Dostana actor shared during an interview on The Jenny McCarthy Show. "I met her three or four years ago and that's what we bonded on - how much we feel like we give back."
