The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is eyeing a change in schedule of the clash against Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup.
Both arch-rivals will face off in the most anticipated clash of the tournament on September 19, but BCCI believes there is need to be a change in schedule as team India will play a game on September 18.
“The scheduling is mindless,” said a senior BCCI official , according to CricketNext. “There appears to be zero application of mind. How can you accept a scenario where India play a game today and tomorrow they will face arch-rivals Pakistan who will have a two-day period of rest? This is unacceptable and has to be revisited. Maybe for the organisers it is just a money-spinning game but for us it is important that there be fairness in scheduling.”
Group A consists of India, Pakistan and the qualifier — who will be decided after a qualification round — while Group B comprises Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
