How Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher ended up together
Duo played onscreen couple in ‘That ‘70s Show’ but it was until several years later that they fell in love
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher may have already clocked in three years of marriage by now, but their romance wasn’t exactly love at first sight.
Kunis opened up about how she came to meet her now husband during Monday's episode of Dax Shepard's podcast Armchair Expert. It all began with their hit sitcom That ‘70s Show, wherein Kunis played Jackie Burkhardt and Kutcher was Michael Kelso. Ironically enough, even though their characters dated on the show, the two actors were just friends in real life. In fact, the starlet has gone on record to say that Kutcher used to do her homework while they were on set, reported E! News. "There was no sexual anything with any one of us," she had claimed.
In the years after, both Kunis and Kutcher ended up finding love with other people. The former started dating Macaulay Culkin in 2002 while Kutcher started dating Demi Moore in 2003. The Dude, Where's My Car star married the G I Jane actor in 2005.
Fortunately or unfortunately, both romances eventually came to an end. Kunis and Culkin broke up in 2010 and in a follow up interview, the Black Swan star described the breakup as "horrible."
Jennifer Aniston to be Courteney Cox's maid of honour
"No, I messed up," Kunis had said. "I'll be the first to admit it. That kind of is something that took me a long time to come out and be like 'Yeah, you know what? I was wrong, and I accept it and I own it now.’ It's messed up what I did and it's messed up how I did it."
Then, in 2011, Kutcher and Moore split, with him filing for divorce the next year. And it was round this time that romance rumours about Kunis and Kutcher started to spread. The two reunited at the Golden Globes, and the sparks started to fly.
But, funnily enough, Kutcher actually tried to set Kunis up on a blind date. The guy never showed up and the duo ended up getting together.
Still, not everyone was a fan of the new romance. Nor was it all rainbows and butterflies. “He was coming off of a divorce — post, post, post, way post-divorce," Kunis said. "But I think there were a lot of misconceptions about the divorce. And because he's very private and respectful, he wasn't going to go and say anything. So, he kind of just let rumours be rumours. And so people believed them. People had a weird perception of who he was based on the rumours that he didn't correct."
Nonetheless, the ever-bold Kunis was the least bit bothered by this backlash or speculation of infidelity because she knew Kutcher for who he truly was. "We went into this relationship super transparent with one another," she said. "So we knew each other's faults 100%. We knew exactly who we were. We knew exactly who we used to be…Everything. And we were like, ‘I accept you for you are’."
By 2014, the two Hollywood A-listed were engaged. They tied the knot in 2015 and now have two children – daughter Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher (born October 2014) and son Dimitri Portwood Kutcher (born November 2016) – together. Needless to say, when it comes to Kunis and Kutcher, everything’s alright!
