A source recently revealed the reasoning behind casting Ranbir as Circuit. "Seeing Ranbir's performance in Sanju was great and everyone was really impressed. The makers believe Ranbir and Sanjay will share a great on-screen chemistry considering their rapport with each other."

Mind you, neither the film's director Rajkumar Hirani nor the two lead actors have confirmed the news yet.

As part of Sanju, Ranbir and Sanjay featured together in Baba Bolta Hai Bas Ho Gaya - a song that came at the end of the film. Ranbir played the protagonist in the biopic, which revolved around the Rocky star's personal and professional struggles.

Rajkumar has previously revealed how Sanjay reacted to Ranbir's Munna Bhai avatar in Sanju. "When Ranbir became Munna Bhai for this film, I, in my excitement, showed it to Sanjay and his immediate response was, 'I hope I'm doing Munna Bhai 3'."

The role of Circuit was played by Arshad in the first two installments of the franchise - Munna Bhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munna Bhai, both directed by Rajkumar.

The films saw immense success at the box office back in 2003 and 2006 respectively. Sanjay has even received a Filmfare Award for the film.
