SMEDA initiates new policy development process
Policy and institutional focus can make Pakistani SMEs competitive in international markets

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) is going to initiate the process of revising the SME Policy, 2007. This was disclosed by Smeda Chief Executive Officer Sher Ayub Khan in a review meeting.
Khan said that the Federal Ministry of Industries and Production had notified a national steering committee, consisting of public and private sector representatives, to collect their input in developing the new policy framework.
Small enterprises need workable policy
He said the rapidly changing economic environment requires policy and institutional focus that can make Pakistani SMEs competitive in international markets and fulfill the multiple agenda of employment creation, new enterprise development, increased exports and enhanced contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP).
