CM eulogises Dr Adib Rizvi for running an institute like SIUT

Fazlur Rehman expresses satisfaction over affairs of NJV School

KARACHI:
The Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT), under the leadership of Dr Adibul Hasan Rizvi, has been providing treatment to patients free of charge while maintaining international standards. People not only from rural Sindh but also from other parts of Pakistan come to SIUT for medical treatment.

Caretaker Chief Minister Fazlur Rehman said this on Tuesday during his visit to the institute. He was accompanied by health minister Dr Saadia Rizvi, Principal Secretary to the CM Sohail Rajput, Health Secretary Usman Chachar and others.

Paying tribute to Dr Rizvi, the CM called himself a mureed (devotee) of him. According to Rehman, Dr Rizvi was an institution in his person.

The CM visited various wards of SIUT and inquired about the patients. "I am proud to say that SIUT is one of the best institutions in the world where free of cost treatment and best care is given to the patients," he said.

Tree plantation campaign

The CM also inaugurated on Tuesday a tree plantation campaign at the NJV Government High School, one of the oldest public schools of Karachi. He planted a neem sapling at the school

Speaking at the event, the CM said massive afforestation was the best option to make Sindh a clean and green province and fight negative effects of climate change.


Industrialists' delegations call on CM

Rehman emphasised planting of indigenous trees across the province to avert heatwaves that have become a recurring phenomenon in recent years. He asked all the government departments to undertake tree plantation within the premises of their buildings.

The Minister of Forests & Wildlife, who happens to be the ln-charge of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries departments conveyed a message to all residents of Sindh province to plant more and more trees to ameliorate the environment of Sindh.

The CM also took a round of the NJV School that has been given in the administration of the Akhuwat Foundation by the government. Rehman praised the foundation for bringing about improvements at the school.

Expressing satisfaction over the state of the affairs at the school, the CM remarked that looking at the school could completely change one's perception about public schools in the country.

Mega Projects

The CM also reviewed progress of ongoing mega projects in the city that were launched under the Karachi package. He directed relevant authorities to start beautification of Submarine Underpass and Sunset-Gizri Boulevard flyover. The projects have been completed but their beautification work has yet to start.

Rehman reviewed all the 31 mega projects. He directed the authorities to properly carry out maintenance work after the projects were completed. For the maintenance of the projects that have been recently completed, the CM directed Planning and Development Board Chairperson Mohammad Waseem to work out a plan.
