KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court has suspended Civil Aviation Authority’s (CAA) directive to Shaheen Air International (SAI) in which it suspended the domestic carrier’s airport facilities and services over non-payment of dues of almost Rs1.5 billion.
In a statement issued on Monday, Shaheen Air said the court has suspended the directive after it challenged the letter dated July 13, 2018.

SAI Director Marketing Zohaib Hassan stated that SAI challenged the letter, which was issued in patent breach of CAA’s own laws particularly Rule 373 of the Civil Aviation Rules 1994. “CAA being a regulator of all the airlines has been treating Shaheen Air with discrimination,” he added.
“SAI contributes billions of rupees monthly to the treasury,” said Hassan. “The CAA does not dare take action against any other local carriers (being bigger defaulters) but took panel action against SAI for less than 2% of dues outstanding.”
