PESHAWAR: The fresh wave of militant activities was a result of failed foreign policy, said Awami National Party (ANP) leader Mian Iftikhar Hussain.

“Sabotaging the election process has evidently been planned out, and if these damaging actions are not prevented, the nation could face annihilation,” Hussain said addressing a gathering at Qasim Village of the Pabbi area in Nowshera district on Saturday.

Condemning terrorism in Bannu and Mastung, Hussain stated that terrorist forces could not be defeated completely until and unless policies were framed in the interest of the nation rather than the super powers.

He added that the security agencies as well as the government should take solid steps to avoid threatening situations at this critical stage.

However, he also went on to state that despite having been convicted, deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s decision to boycott general elections was a good decision.

Moreover, he added that ANP will utilise all the resources for maintaining peace once it came into power in the next general election to be held on July 25. He added that people must trust ANP and avenge Haroon Bilour on July 25 by voting in favor of ANP.

“It was only ANP which faced immense resistance after it was continuously targeted in the 2013 general elections but this time all political parties were confronted with the volatile law and order situation,” he informed adding “Now was the time for the government to find a long term solution for the problem.”

Hussain informed at the gathering that that Bilour’s sacrifice has further strengthened their courage and ANP candidates were coming up with more spirit adding it was now up to the voters to avenge Bashir Ahmad Bilour and Haroon Bashir Bilour.

“I salute the courage of ANP workers since their leadership was targeted but they [ANP workers] did not lose courage,” he informed adding that the country was going through a critical stage and ANP will never lay down arms but will deter militants.

Economy and correct system of justice combined with population planning is the way out. Pakistan today's faces the biggest challenge not in terms of India or water or any external factors it is all about population.
