LAHORE: The second spell of monsoon started in the province with heavy to moderate rain, received in the metropolis on Thursday. The Meteorological Department forecast more rains in the city and the same weather pattern likely to persist during the next three days. The maximum temperature was recorded as 35 degrees Celsius during the day while 30 degrees Celsius as minimum temperature. The second spell of monsoon rain is likely to continue with more intensity during the next couple of days, the MET office said. The Punjab Agriculture Department advised farmers to pay special attention to the standing crops during rains. A spokesman for the department said on Thursday that farmers should monitor weather predictions to make their irrigation plans for standing crops accordingly. Small water reservoirs should be constructed at the farm level, he added. He suggested that growers should drain out water from cotton and vegetable fields immediately as these crops are very sensitive to water.
