Maryam Nawaz confirms former first lady still unconscious and on ventilator
Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, wife of deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif, on Thursday blinked after a month-long coma in London, daughter Maryam Nawaz confirmed.
Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Maryam wrote, "1st time in 30 days, Ami opened eyes for a few secs. Don’t know if she saw or registered us. Still not conscious & on vent. Prayers solicited."
Maryam requests for prayers after Kulsoom suffers cardiac arrest
On June 15, Begum Kulsoom was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a London hospital and placed on the ventilator after she suffered from a cardiac arrest. Maryam confirmed the news on Twitter, "Ami had a sudden cardiac arrest this morning when we were on the flight and (has been) on the ventilator since. She requested prayers for her mother’s health.
Hussain Nawaz also appealed to the nation to pray for his mother’s speedy recovery. Kulsoom was taken to the facility two days prior, and has remained unconscious since.
