LAHORE: A writ petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) challenging the unannounced load shedding which has not only disrupted business activities but has also made citizen’s lives miserable. A non-government organisation (NGO) filed the petition contending that the court had directed all distributor companies responsible for load shedding to follow a schedule. However, this was in vain as the companies were not following orders. The NGO’s counsel implored stated that load shedding was still taking place despite the tall claims made by the government and the instructions issued by the court. Further, the duration of load shedding has also increased which is not only disrupting people’s businesses but is also causing citizens unnecessary misery. The petition pleaded that directives be issued to stop unannounced load shedding, while strict action be taken against those who are violating the court’s orders.
