The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority on Tuesday sealed 14 food outlets, including meat shops, flour mills
PESHAWAR:
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority on Tuesday sealed 14 food outlets, including meat shops, a flour mill and spice factories in Peshawar.
According to the food authority, they conducted raids in various parts of the city including the Tehkal Payan area where the authority officials sealed 10 meat shops for not following food safety standards which the authority officials had asked them to follow during an earlier visit of the area.
The authority also sealed two spice factories located on Charsadda Road in a late-night operation along with a flour mill for violation of food safety standards.
The spice factories were caught red-handed adding wood particles and other irrelevant material in the final product, while, the flour mill was sealed for mislabeling and misbranding by preparing different unregistered brands with Punjab addresses.
The falsely branded flour was being sold in different parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa while claiming it had been manufactured in Punjab.
