LAHORE: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Amna Imran Khan directed officials to stop delaying applications and to resolve pending complaints as soon as possible.

She expressed these views while visiting the authority’s One Window Cell on Tuesday. This was her third visit to the cell since she assumed charge. She warned the team that she herself will volunteer to work at the cell if the situation does not improve.

“The LDA has no place for those officials who create unnecessary hurdles for citizens”, she maintained.

She also directed officials to eliminate middlemen such as agents from the process. She asked them to prepare a detailed report of all the pending cases so that they can be swiftly resolved.

All directorates will have to submit a detailed report about their cases on a weekly basis, she directed.

Officials should inform the people of all the objections and the requirements in one go in order to avoid having them visit the offices again and again, she stressed. Further, officials should also avoid raising unnecessary objections, Khan said.

She added that she will personally monitor the performance of the cell in order to ensure that cases are resolved promptly and efficiently.

During her visit, the director general also visited the different counters and inquired about different cases.

Khan was also informed that a special desk for women and senior citizens has been set up according to her previous directives. Further, a special counter for the Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) has also been set up to verify documents online.

The director general was also accompanied by General Housing Additional Director Zeeshan Shabbir Rana and other officials.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, a spokesperson for the authority said that LDA is trying to streamline and simplify its functions to improve service delivery at the centre.

“Citizens are inconvenienced when they approach the One Window Cell either because they are unaware about the documents they require or because of the negligence of the officials,” he maintained.

The official also maintained that PLRA has computerised all the land records since 2000. After establishing the counter at the cell, it will be easier to verify documents, he added.

However, for records before 2000, citizens will have to wait for manual verification, he concluded.
