CM Marri kicks off cleanliness week in Quetta

Announces Rs1 million grant for Ziarat Public Park

QUETTA: Caretaker Balochistan Chief Minister Alauddin Marri has said in line with our pledge to conduct free and fair elections, we also want to provide a clean environment to the people of Quetta.

“Quetta is our home and the interim provincial government is utilising all its resources to keep the provincial capital neat and clean,” said the caretaker chief minister while kicking off the cleanliness week in Quetta on Monday.



Marri directed the metropolitan staff to be punctual and avoid taking holidays.

Marri started the cleanliness campaign from Quetta’s Bacha Khan Chowk where Quetta Deputy Commission Captain (retd) Zafar Abbasi, Environment DG Tariq Zehri and other officials accompanied him.

“With the support of the people of Quetta, the interim provincial government seeks to restore the city’s beauty; therefore, we have launched a week-long cleanliness campaign in the city,” said the CM.

He said, “In a meeting with Quetta Mayor Dr Kaleemullah Kakar, I had given thorough briefing regarding Metropolitan’s machinery and other issues which will be resolved soon.”



To a query, Marri said, “We want to leave a gift for the people in the shape of a neat and clean Quetta city.”

Candidates urged to adhere to ECP rules
On Sunday, the caretaker chief minister urged all election candidates to follow the rules and regulations laid out by the Election Commission of Pakistan while launching their campaigns. “The interim provincial government was utilising its utmost efforts in holding impartial elections,” he added.

He stated this while addressing a meeting on election preparations at the Ziarat deputy commissioner’s office. Provincial Health Minister Faiz Kakar and other government officials were also in attendance.



He said, "People must be provided a peaceful and conducive environment on the polling day as negligence regarding law and order will not be tolerated." The deputy commissioner apprised the caretaker CM regarding election preparations, ongoing development projects and law and order situation in the district.

Marri instructed the DC to ensure a peaceful atmosphere on the polling day so people could cast votes without facing any hardship.
He further advised the authorities to remain neutral on the election day and listen to concerns of all candidates.



Separately, the caretaker CM visited district headquarter hospital and several other sites of the city.

Marri expressed concern over the cleanliness situation in the city and directed authorities to utilise all resources for the purpose.
