Naval Base attack: Funeral prayers for slain officer

Body was buried at the society’s graveyard.

LAHORE: Funeral prayers were offered on Tuesday for Lieutenant Syed Yasir Abbas, one of the casualties of the terrorist attacks on PNA Mehran in Karachi on Sunday, near the family’s residence at Askari IX Housing Society, Cantonment.

The body was then buried at the society’s graveyard. The funeral was attended by Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa, Corps Commander Major General Rashid Mehmood, Food Minster Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor, Deputy Speaker Rana Mashood, MNA Saad Rafique, Major Gen Muhammad Nawaz, the Rangers director general; Major General Zafar Iqbal, the 10 Division general officer commanding (GOC); Major Gen Asif Azeem, the 11 Division GOC; Naval Commodore Akbar Abbas, and Station Commodore Naqi Akbar.

A floral wreath each was laid on behalf of the president, the chief of army staff, the naval chief, the Lahore corps commander, and the Rangers.
