'Kyun Nikala' theatre play set for release on eve of Independence Day
Playwright Anwar Maqsood says the play is related to a cook serving a PML-N leader for the past 30 years
Renowned playwright Anwar Maqsood's piece Kyun Nikala, resembling the oft quoted electioneering slogan, is set for release on the eve of Independence Day.
The play will be screened at the Arts Council, Karachi at 10:30pm on August 13.
Addressing a news conference at the Arts Council, Maqsood said he had written the play 'Kyun Nikala' (why was I ousted) a long time before it became a political slogan. He further said he has entered into an agreement with the Director Dawar Mehmood that none of his words will be omitted from the play.
Shedding some light on the play, Maqsood said it related to a cook providing his services to a PML-N leader for the last 30 years.

The playwright further said that the entire piece will encompass the upcoming general elections, featuring all political parties. He hoped that no political party will object to the artistic play.
He quipped that July 25, the scheduled for the polls, will 'free the masses' and urged the voters to exercise their right carefully as a major 'bidding' of candidates occurs during the polls.
President Arts Council, Director Dawar Mehmood and a large number of media persons were present on the occasion.
'Mujhey kyun nikala' became a popular wording after the deposed premier Nawaz Sharif used it as a political slogan at his public rallies to garner public support against his disqualification by the top court on July 28, 2017, in the Panama Papers case.
