Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif unveiled the party's manifesto in Lahore, promising to build new dams, extending the health card scheme and modernising the transport.

Addressing the manifesto ceremony, Shehbaz praised former premier Nawaz Sharif for deciding to take measures to establish peace in the country, including Karachi. He appealed the masses to 'honour the votes' keeping in view the developmental projects of the previous government.

Highlighting the salient features of the manifesto, the PML-N president said the party, if elected again, will extend the health card scheme to the entire country.

Shehbaz announced to introduce a agro-based industry, saying the party intends to change the fate of villages in Pakistan through the initiative.

He also said that the biggest challenge Pakistan may be facing in the days to come is that of water scarcity. In order to face this challenge, he added, we need to build Diamer Bhasha dam on priority basis.

"Even if we have to collect donations, we have to build this dam by setting a time span of five to six years to complete at least 80 per cent of it." He reiterated that India is building dams on Pakistan's waters.

Shehbaz’s national govt idea takes party leaders by surprise

Housing, Shehbaz added, is also any commoner's basic concern now. "We need to introduce, in the next five years, affordable and low-cost housing scheme for millions of Pakistanis." The criteria for this scheme will be to serve the homeless and poverty-stricken, giving them the ownership and swing the wheel of the economy to move faster.

Under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), billions of dollars have been allocated to boost the industrial output. This enhanced performance will improve economic conditions for the masses.

Introducing public transport, which is the backbone of any society, is the also a very important issue that needs to be addressed. If we want economic freedom for the youth and the women, we need to bring in reliable and comfortable public transport in all four provinces.

The PML-N president said they party will work to reduce and eradicate electricity theft within a time span of three years.

Waqas | 5 years ago | Reply So these thieves have been sleeping all these years? Building orange line and metro when what the country needs most is dams. Where were they when India completed their dam? Why could they not stop it? Simple papers they could not file with the world Bank to stop construction of the dam. And now, they want to build dams? How long are the patwari people going to believe their lies? Nawaz is where he deserves to be. In jail. And shahbaz needs to follow him.
