Addressing a ceremony in Muzaffarbad, Secretary Electricity AJK government Fayyaz Ali Abbasi said the company, a subsidiary of China Three Gorges, is responsible for executing the 1,100MW Kohala hydro-power project on Jhelum river in the valley.
It will provide free electrical engineering courses to students hailing from affected areas of power generation projects, he said, adding that the company is providing this opportunity under its “Community Investment and Social Responsibility Program” to benefit students of the area.

“A group of 18 students has already been selected in a transparent manner. The selected students will get fully sponsored for first two years of education in University of Punjab and remaining two years in China,” said Abbasi and added that the first batch of students has already completed a semester in Pakistan.
“Four to five more similar groups will be selected purely on merit to get education of electrical engineering in various Chinese universities,” he added.
