RAWALPINDI:
Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Tuesday inaugurated his central election office in Shamsabad, where he plans to campaign for national assembly constituency NA-57 and provincial assembly constituency PP-6. Addressing the crowd gathered at the office, Abbasi said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) had done nothing for the welfare of the people.

Those calling for elections delay should be tried for treason, says PM

On the other hand, he said that the Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML-N) put the country back on the track of development by building roads, motorways, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other projects. He claimed that the party will win the upcoming general elections with a majority. “PML-N was the largest party of the country and had the support of the people,” he said. Earlier, workers and supporters gave a warm welcome to the former prime minister as they held aloft party flags, and portraits of deposed premier Nawaz Sharif and former Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif.
