MQM-H leader Amir Khan finally released
Khan left Central Jail today on bail, while Afaq Ahmed remains pending resolution of a separate case.

The Sindh High Court revoked the life term of Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H) leader Amir Khan and ordered his release on bail.
MQM H leaders Afaq Ahmed and Amir Khan had already had been granted on bail on May 10 following submission of a surety bonds amounting Rs.300,000 each. While Khan was free to walk, Ahmed has to remain in jail till a case of target killing naming him is resolved.
A lower court had awarded life term to the two MQM-H leaders in the murder case of Farooq Ahmad who was brother of MQM provincial minister Haroon Siddiqui. A case had been registered by Landhi Police against Afaq Ahmad and Amir Khan in 1998.
Additional District and Session Judge East Ubaid Ahmad Khan had sentenced both of the accused to life imprisonment with fine. In the last hearing, Sindh High Court had rejected government’s request to shift the hearing to the Shariat Court. The court suspended the sentence of both the accused and directed government to release them if there were no other cases against them.
Following the court's order, the authorities released Amir Khan from central jail today.
Recently, Ahmed was accused in the target killing of MQM’s Farooq Baig on May 2, thus delaying his release, despite being awarded bail and deposition of Rs.300,000 as surety.
