ATC convicts two militants in Multan
Arms and explosive material seized from Arshad and Yasir
MULTAN:
An Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) awarded an accumulated eight years imprisonment to two militants on Wednesday for possessing arms and explosives in Multan.
The prosecution told the court that Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police officials arrested two militants identified as Muhammad Arshad and Yasir during checking. They seized weapons and explosive material from their possession.
The police registered cases against the accused under the anti-terrorism act and presented a challan in court.
During proceedings of the case, the accused were found guilty. The judge awarded a five-year jail term to Arshad and imposed a fine of Rs5,000.
Notices issued in govt’s appeal against ATC order
The court handed down a three-year prison sentence to Yasir and also ordered to confiscate the property of the convicts.
Earlier, an anti-terrorist court in Faisalabad awarded five years imprisonment to a convict for possessing explosives. The judgment was announced by ATC Judge Muhammad Khalil Naz.
The CTD police, during checking, recovered explosive material and detonators from Masaab Mehmood near the Kamalpur Interchange in 2016.
Police arrested the accused and registered a case against him. After hearing the statements and considering the evidence, the ATC judge handed down a five-year jail term to Masaab.
