Workforce motivation necessary for swift execution
Chairman says WAPDA making efforts to ensure human resource development

Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) Chairman Lieutenant General (Retired) Muzammil Hussain said the body believes in motivating its workforce through career development and welfare-oriented measures.
This, he said, would ensure that water and hydropower projects are executed swiftly in the country.

Speaking at the Wapda Foundation and its distribution transformer engineering service unit located in Lahore on Wednesday, he said the authority has been taking a number of steps for the last two years for the betterment of its employees.
The incumbent management has been working on the revision of human resource policy, setting up a housing society, medical college and an engineering university, along with modernisation of its healthcare system and the upgrade of educational institutes.
The chairman said that the Wapda foundation, in addition to performing its core functions, has also been actively contributing towards implementing most of the welfare schemes for Wapda employees. The foundation generates funds through different business activities, mainly from reclamation of power and distribution transformers, and allocates funds for materialising the schemes.
First national water policy on the cards
During his visit to the engineering service unit, the chairman witnessed the process of repairing transformers. In his interaction with officials, he directed the concerned officers to prepare a case vis-à-vis regularisation of employees, who have been serving on daily wages for long, and send it to the authority for approval.
