Former ISI chief Asad Durrani placed on ECL
Agreeing to the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) suggestion of calling the emergency meeting, the proceedings were held in a closed room. The meeting was chaired by the new chairman of the committee, Senator Azam Swati. On the recommendation of PPP leader Rehman Malik, the meeting was held in-camera.
During the meeting, the concerned defence authorities informed the committee members about the clear and befitting stance of the Pakistan Army over the controversial book. The committee members also forwarded their recommendations to representatives of the defence authorities.
While talking to the media after the meeting, Swati shared that the agenda items were fixed on an urgent basis and the defence ministry will be given time for preparation. The next meeting on the issue will be held on July 11 and 12. He added that the committee has informed the defence ministry of its recommendations.

Swati said that people agree that Durrani was wrong to co-author the book. According to APP, the committee chairman said Pakistan's relations with the United States are at a crucial stage. and maintained that for peaceful diplomatic ties, Pakistan needs to maintain good relations with the US. Swati further said that the matter will be sent to senate's standing committee of foreign affairs for further action. The meeting also condemned threats received by the chairman of National Accountability Bureau.
