Sanjay Dutt took girls to mother's fake grave to manipulate them
Not only would Dutt lie to his girlfriends, he was vengeful and couldn't get over girls who dumped him
The much anticipated Sanjay Dutt biopic, starring Ranbir Kapoor, is all set to hit screens this weekend. The story revolves around the much controversial life of the Munna Bhai star and how he eventually became one of the most celebrated actors in Indian cinema.
The director of the film Rajkumar Hirani, who also shares close ties with Dutt, has now revealed a shocking story about the actor's life whilst speaking about his film. In an interview with India Today, Hirani claimed Dutt would often tell women blatant lies in order to make them emotional and extremely attached to him.
Apparently, the troubled superstar would take women to a random grave and tell them it is his mother’s, thereby making them feel special. “He would start dating a girl and take her to this graveyard. He would say, ‘I have brought you here to meet my mother.’ After this unusual meeting, the girl would feel emotionally attached to Sanju. The reality was that the grave was not his mother’s,” Hirani said.
Not only would Dutt lie to his girlfriends, he was also vengeful and couldn't get over ones who dumped him.
"A girl broke up with him so Sanjay took his friend's new car and smashed it into another car parked outside his ex-girlfriend's house. Later on, he found out that the car he rammed into belonged to his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend. Both cars were severely damaged," Hirani recalled.
In Sanju, the Khalnayak actor’s ‘girlfriend count’ is revealed to be more than 300! The India Today reports says that Dutt was notorious for having affairs with several senior, junior and contemporary female actors.
When asked, Kapoor revealed his count to be much lesser, adding he would never be comfortable revealing his own number. “No. I actually won’t allow it. I don’t think I am a courageous enough man like Sanju sir to give my life out so openly. But my count has been less than 10, so people can’t make a biopic on me,” the Tamasha star said at the film’s trailer launch in May.
Kapoor also reminisced about speaking with Dutt every night before the shoot just to get into the skin of the character. "I called Sanjay Dutt the night before every shoot. I wanted to know what was going through his mind when all of these incidents happened with him."
Kapoor also recalled an incident when Dutt thought his father Sunil's head was being burnt by a candle. "This particular time, Baba was so high on drugs that he thought a candle was burning Sunil Dutt saab's head. Sanjay then proceeded to put out the imaginary candle. It was then that Dutt saab got to know that Sanju was completely hooked on to drugs."
Sanju is produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film is releasing on June 29.
